Summer foot care ideas

This winter we posted about keeping your feet healthy during the cold weather season. But what about now that the sun is shining and its sandal weather everyday? There are just as many hazards to your foot health during the summer as the winter. Try out these easy foot care ideas to keep your feet happy and healthy this summer!

  1. Wear sunscreen

Those tootsies have been tucked away in winter boots and haven’t seen the light of day in months. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your feet when heading out in flip-flops on a gorgeous sunny day.

  1. Prevent blisters

Maybe those hiking boots or running shoes you were wearing in cooler weather didn’t cause blisters, but now that it’s warmed up, your feet could sweat more, increasing friction and the likelihood you’ll develop a blister in your trusty footwear. Bring along an eNZees Mini even if “I’ve never gotten a blister in these shoes before!” Be ready to apply if you start developing a hot-spot.

  1. Moisturize & Exfoliate

Keeping a pumice stone in the shower is an easy way to remember to exfoliate. Scrub at those hard calluses on your heels in the shower and then apply a deep moisturizing cream when you get out. The trick is consistency, so make this part of your daily routine.

  1. Don't go barefoot
According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, we should all limit the amount of time we spend walking around barefoot. From ringworms to athlete’s foot to plantar warts, there are all kinds of gross infections we can pickup by the pool or in the locker room.
  1. Get a pedicure!

Because… why not? And they're not just for women. Men can enjoy having their feet scrubbed and groomed - no pink nail polish necessary! Have fun this summer!
