5 Bucket List Items for the Adventurer in 2017
It’s that time of the year – 2017 is around the corner! If you haven’t started making your New Year’s Resolutions yet, take a look at this list of bucket list items to get you stoked for the coming year!
1. Skate Touring in SwedenPhoto courtesy of oskar karlin
This could quite possibly be the coolest (literally) thing ever. Spend one day or many skating on frozen rivers in Sweden, sometimes up to 100km per day! Book in with a local guiding company and travel hostel to hostel by ice.
2. The Motatapu Off-road Sporting Event, New Zealand
This adventure extravaganza on the South Island of New Zealand features everything from a 15km trail run to a triathlon. Sign up for an 51km ultra run, 47km mountain bike race, a trail marathon, off-road triathlon, or the “short” 15km trail run. The best part of all? It takes place in one of the most beautiful parts of the Southern Alps near Queenstown.
3. The Looking Glass Arch, Moab, Utah
Not only does it look epic, the Looking Glass Arch near Moab is relatively easy 5.4 sport climb. You’ll need good rappelling techniques for the incredible rap down through the arch. (Beware of rattlesnakes at the bottom, though!) Don’t feel like climbing it? It’s a great hike for those who aren’t a fan of heights.
4. The Colorado Trail
Fancy a good long walk? Spend a month (or more) hiking the 500-mile trail from Denver to Durango. This spectacular route climbs through some of Colorado’s best scenery. You’ll enjoy it so much, you might just want to turn around and walk it again!
5. The Cairngorms National Park, Scotland
This beautiful expanse of Scottish wilderness should be on everyone’s bucket list, at least twice in their lifetime! From remote lochs to windy munros, the Scottish highlands will be a trip to remember!
