Why Do We Use New Zealand Wool?

New Zealand wool

Whenever I give educational clinics on eNZees Foot Soother, I am almost always asked, “Why do you only use New Zealand wool?” It’s true; wool is produced around the world – Spain, South America, and even in my own backyard here in the Rocky Mountains. But for decades, New Zealand wool has proven to be the best quality and consistency. That’s why major wool clothing companies like Icebreaker, Ibex, Point6 Socks, and others source exclusively from New Zealand.

There are many factors at hand here, but according to the farm where eNZees Foot Soother is produced, New Zealand wool is the best because the environment allows the sheep to live healthy, low-stress lives. New Zealand is one of the only places in the world where there are no major predators, which means our sheep never have to worry about winding up someone’s dinner. New Zealand’s unique climate also plays a role in the quality and consistency of the sheep’s wool.

If you’re like me, you love the soft feel of Merino wool t-shirts and sweaters. When I started eNZees Foot Soother, my first thought was to use Merino. As it turns out, Merino fibers are too soft and fine for foot fleece, which is used to protect feet from hot-spots, blisters and other forms of foot pain. With the help of the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority, we finally found the perfect type of wool for eNZees Foot Soother. After its been processed and refined in New Zealand, we package this pure lambswool in Denver, CO and ship it to outdoor gear stores, natural grocers, and podiatrist offices around the country.

If you haven’t tried it yet, see how New Zealand lambswool can help your feet be happy, healthy and blister-free this summer!
