5 valentine's day dates for the outdoorsy person

Valentine’s Day is approaching fast. Let’s mix things up this year and get creative for your date ideas. Whether you live in warm or cold climates, we have a few Valentine’s Day date ideas for lovers who love the outdoors.

Hit the trail.

Going for a walk in the woods can be a totally relaxing activity. It's just the two of you and Mother Nature, so it's the perfect opportunity to be candid with each other. Since you probably won't come across many other people, you can open up and be yourself and not have to worry about impressing anyone. Your significant other will find it romantic and will appreciate the real you.

Glide your way through the wilderness

Cross-country skiing allows the Maine winter sports enthusiast a chance to glide over the snow-blanketed forests, while downhill skiing provides an icy shot of adrenaline and fun date for the outdoor enthusiasts. Many cross-country ski resorts also offer ski-in, cozy lodging with fireplaces, candlelit meals, and even couple massages.

Have an Outdoor Picnic

Picnics don’t only have to be for the warm weather months. Just pack warm foods in insulated containers and head to your favorite park for a romantic night out. If you don’t feel like cooking, order takeout and pick it up on the way to the park. You may also want to bring special insulated seat covers in case the park bench is covered with snow or ice. Top it off with stargazing at the end of the day and you’re sure to fire up the old butterflies!

Go Ice Skating

Ice skating is a fun outdoor activity for date night. You can either go to one of the outdoor skating rinks or take your excursion outside of the city. Are your skills less than perfect? Try taking lessons before your big date, or better yet, take the lessons together. Learning how to do something fancy together can be a bonding experience.

Go Sledding

Emotionally charged moments between you and your significant other create memories and increase bonding. The adrenaline rush from speeding down a snowy hill can jump start your relationship. When the first snow covers the ground, grab your love and your sled, find a quality hill, and take her for the ride of her life (for those of you in warmer climes, there’s always ice blocking!). Finish the date by warming up next to a fire.
